Thousands of neighborhoods around the U.S. have their own personal surveillance thanks to Ring, a home security company owned by Amazon.

Ring sells doorbell cameras and other surveillance equipment that families use to see who is at their door or record what’s going on in the area from their front door.

Footage from Ring doorbell cameras have captured all kinds of acts, from package theft to kind deeds.

If you do a little digging, some see Ring as a threat to the right to privacy.

Amazon, which owns Ring, was named as number one on Slate’s “Evil List” of “dangerous” tech companies.

They accused Amazon of supporting “police surveillance with its Ring doorbells and surveillance more generally with Alexa devices” among other egregious accusations.

The company is also reportedly planning to incorporate facial recognition into its technology.

While some law enforcement officials who spoke to NBC about their use of Ring technology said it is believed to be a crime deterrent, none of the departments said that they actually collect and measure the impact of their partnerships with Ring to prove whether or not they actually reduce or deter crime.

But many families don’t use their Ring devices to fight crime or package thieves.

Crystal says she uses her Floodlight Cam and Ring video doorbell for “peace of mind.”

“We love having the cameras,” Crystal said.

“Helps us know when the kids get home from school if we aren’t home and we can see who is at our door. Gives us peace of mind when we can’t be home.”

She has four kids so she needs every bit of that peace of mind that she can get.

Apparently, their Ring cameras are also good for a laugh.

At least their 10-year-old son Graham thinks so.

Mom was at the office and he figured that she could use a little fun.

So, he gave her a call and told her to make sure she was watching the cameras from the Ring app.

She burst out into laughter when she saw that he had his dancing shoes on. So, did everyone else in the office.

“I watched it and started cracking up,” Crystal said. “I showed everyone that was with me, they all know Graham, and they all thought it was hilarious! He lightened the mood in the office that day.”

Since everyone at the office thought it was so funny she figured that the rest of the world would be amused too. So, she posted it on the internet where it ended up going viral. More than 111,000 people have viewed the video from Ring’s YouTube page.

They all thought that it was super adorable that this sweet boy would go out of his way to make his mom and her co-workers smile.

“What a cutie and you got the moves Graham,” wrote one YouTuber.

“He had to have a past life in the ’80s or been practicing his sims4 dance skills,” said another.
