This is a giggle and aww-worthy moment for anyone witnessing it. The small 19-month-old toddler was so excited to be able to hold her baby sister for the first time.
There had been a delay while her sister was in neonatal care, and the two weren’t able to officially meet during that time. But finally, the time came, and it was one to remember for a lifetime. Her joy was overwhelming. Her tiny new sister seemed happy about it too.

Meeting you
When little Ola first sees her new baby sister in her mother’s arms, she’s ecstatic and starts talking a mile a minute, looking up at her mom with complete amazement.
Then, her mother carefully hands the baby to her. She adorably says thank you as she takes her little sister, provoking chuckles from both of her parents.
Finally!
The first thing she does, once her sister is securely in her arms, is give the small infant a kiss on her forehead. Can you imagine anything cuter?
The adults in the room can’t stop laughing during this perfect little moment. It’s just too adorable.
Doing a closer inspection
Little Ola gently pinches her sister’s nose, very accurately calling it a nose as she does so. Her mother reminds her to be careful. After all, she’s holding a baby and not a doll. There’s a lot to learn about holding a baby and playing with them safely.
Next, she checks out her new baby sister’s socks. As she does, the infant rocks her head forward a little, and the very observant mom makes sure to quickly place her back in a safe position. Nothing is going to go wrong during this first meeting of the siblings.
A question from mom
Her mother asks,
“Is this your sister, Ola?
Ola’s response?
“Cute!”
While she may not have actually answered the question, we still have to agree with her assessment. The baby is very cute.
Don’t lick the baby!
In just these few short moments, Ola has already learned how to hold a baby, how to be gentle, and even how not to yell near her. The next lesson happens when she decides to taste the top of the baby’s head, and her mom giggles and tells her that’s not allowed either.
Being a new big sister must be complicated with all those new rules!
More hugs and kisses
As she (gently) hugs the baby, Ola proudly proclaims,
“I squish her!
Soon after, more hugs and kisses ensue, with one kiss landing on an eye and the parents immediately reminding Ola not to kiss her sister’s eyes and to stick to the forehead instead. Having a new baby sister really is complicated!
Her parents burst out into laughter again. They can already tell that they have a lot of work to do to make sure that these two can spend time together without anyone getting squished too much!
It’s all worth it to see the love that this little girl already has for her sister.
