The world can seem like a pretty scary place these days.

Especially if you regularly scroll through social media or watch the news.

But more often than not, fear is just an illusion stopping you from doing the things you want to do and living how you choose.

Rick Clukey was well aware of this. And though he meant to share this knowledge with his children nine years ago, it rings true more than ever today.

“So, don’t be afraid, have courage. Good luck,” he told them in a note.

And now that important reminder has been shared with hundreds of thousands of people on the internet who could also use this advice.

Rick’s daughter, Amy Clukey, ended up finding posting the note on Twitter after he passed away.

“Note from my dad found in his bee keeping equipment nine years after his death. He is missed,” Amy, who is an English professor at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, tweeted.

That note ended up being liked more than 797,000 times on Twitter.

“I hope this note is found by one of my children who is curious about beekeeping. Beekeeping is actually pretty easy and you can learn everything you need to know online. Bees make more products than just honey and as a hobby, it can be a source of extra income $$$. So don’t be afraid, have courage. Good luck. Love, Dad,” the note read.

It was written by Rick in 2012 after his doctors told him that he didn’t have much longer to live.

Rick passed away from lung cancer at the age of 53 leaving his six children behind.

“He passed away in 2013 at the age of 53 from lung cancer. He has six children. I’m the eldest. My youngest brother Liam found the note. My sister Emily plans on beekeeping when she buys a house,” Amy wrote on Twitter.

Amy said that finding the note was a very emotional ordeal for her family.

“My father wrote this when he had terminal lung cancer. It was incredibly hard for him and for all of us who loved him,” she recalled. “He passed away in 2013 at the age of 53 from lung cancer. “Losing someone to cancer is terrible. But it does allow a bit of time to think about one’s legacy.”

The note ended up being emotional for much of the internet too.

“Y’know, I can’t think of anything I’d want my kids to hear me say more than those last three lines. What a lovely note,” wrote one commenter.

Many people began sharing stories about their own dads and the notes and words of wisdom they left behind.

Amy says she was touched by the many comments she received.

“Currently crying at the coffee shop,” Amy wrote.
