Raising toddlers is tough. They can be rambunctious, messy— and absolutely adorable. Their innocent minds and naive questions hold such pure curiosity and a passion for life. Their big, loving eyes and tiny bodies are a combination specifically engineered to melt your heart. All kids are adorable— but Jake Boone has a special quality that makes him that much more endearing.
You see, Jake Boone is a bona fide country boy.
With his thick, Southern accent, the red-headed Kentucky native is an old soul in a young body. He has a certain je-ne-sais-quoi that paired along with his unique pronunciation makes him a pleasure to watch.
This isn’t just a personal opinion, however. When Jake was three-years-old, his mom Chrystal Logsdon captured an adorable moment that ultimately won them a $10,000 prize from America’s Funniest Home Videos.
In the video entitled “Tot Jots A Lot”, little Jake helps his mother with their grocery list.
“I was making my grocery list, and he came over to me and he was like ‘I want to help,'” Chrystal told WBKO.
“He asked for a pad of paper and a pen, and he just started rattling stuff off.”
In the video, Jake stands before his mother with a pad of paper and pen in hand. “We need milk and, uh, cheese. What else?” he asks with his thick country twang.
“Spaghetti,” she answers. Looking down and making “notes” on the pad of paper, Jake replies: “We need ‘sghetti. What else?”
The rest of the video follows this format, with Jake taking note of the random items Chrystal lists before asking her “What else?” in his adorable, Southern, baby voice.
“We need ‘nanas. What else?”
“We need more tatoes. What else?”
“I thought it was really cute,” said Chrystal of the video. “But I didn’t think it was viral cute. But it was. Everybody really loved it. And so, it just blew up from there.” Chrystal’s video of Jake was shared over 200,000 times. being viewed everywhere from the Netherlands to Australia. “A lot of people messaged us and said that it made them smile and it made them happy,” Chrystal said.
Since going viral, Jake now has his own YouTube channel with over 23,000 subscribers.
He also has a Facebook group called “Life According to Jake Boone“. Upon watching more videos of Jake, it’s easy to see he’s an old soul. “He’s like an old person in a little person’s body,” Chrystal said. “He says some of the funniest things.” To give you an idea, here’s a clip of Jake giving directions to Bear Creek:
Since being uploaded, Jake’s Southern grocery list has been viewed over 11 million times.
“Can’t get enough of this young man!”
