Just when they thought they could get away with it the judge pulled a fast one on them. I bet they didn't see that coming.

Having a twin can be a lot of fun.

You do things together, wear matching clothes or something that goes in pairs, and you can dress up as a tandem on Halloween, too. Parents also love seeing twins despite it being double the trouble.

However, some twins take advantage of this to trick other people.

There are instances that twins would switch places to take each other’s tests. Or pretend to be the other during difficult situations like a bad date or something.

When these things happen it’s double the trouble, as you’ll soon see.

There’s this controversial story in Brazil that involves twins.

The court document of Goiás, Brazil, hid their names under the pseudonyms Fernando and Fabrício. The two are involved in a paternal case, something that the two tried to get away with as twins.

A woman claimed to have dated one of the twins.

She said she met him at the bar at a party with some common friends. He introduced himself as Fernando. He mentioned that he has a twin brother named Fabrício and owned the yellow motorcycle he rode that night.

From this casual fling, the woman ended up pregnant.

The mother sought the court’s help hoping to get financial support. But when district judge Filipe Luís Peruca summoned Fernando, he said he had nothing to do with it and pointed his finger at Fabrício.

They kept blaming each other back and forth until the judge ordered the twins to take a DNA test.

However, since they are monozygotic twins, they ended with the same result.

These types of twins have the same genetic code, so it is expected that the twins were both compatible with the child’s DNA.

The court would’ve opted for a more detailed ‘twin test,’ but it will cost around $15,773, and the result could still end up inconclusive.

The twins thought they got away with this like they always do.

According to Judge Peruca in his court proceedings, it turns out that the twins have been taking advantage of the fact that they look so identical.

It was said that these two used this trick since they were adolescents to attract multiple women and hide their infidelity by doing this same thing, pretending as if they were the other.

But Judge Peruca was wiser than these twins.

He ordered that both Fernando and Fabrício be named as the child’s father. In effect, both are requested to cover 50% of the child’s school and medical expenses.

Each of them was also asked to pay the mother 30% of Brazil’s minimum wage, which is around $80. The mother of the child was disappointed by the attitude of the twins.

“It’s a very sad attitude; they didn’t need that. They know the truth, but they take advantage of the similarity to avoid responsibility”, she said in the published court document.

It seems like the twin’s plan backfired at them in the end.

What they did was indeed very disappointing. Even if justice was served rightfully, the woman still wanted to push through this paternity battle because she wanted her daughter to know her father.
