There’s something extra-beautiful about the relationship between a father and daughter.

Sadly though, not every little girl gets to know what it’s like to have a loving dad around.

While mothers are there to nurture their children, fathers play an important role in a girl’s life too. A father serves as a man who will show her how she should be treated by a man she would someday want to marry.

There are countless activities girls love to do with their dad by their side.

Dads seem really good at things like riding bikes, heading to the park, and reading the best bedtime stories.

Many fathers walk the extra mile to spend a day with their daughter, like doing tea parties, hair day bonding, and even allowing their daughters to put make-up on them.

One highlight of a father-daughter relationship involves dance.

Some schools and cities have an annual father-daughter dance (as well as a mother-son dance). Communities do this to encourage fathers to spend time with their daughters, take them to dance, and make them feel special.

However, some girls don’t get to partake in these magical events.

Some skip this activity because their father is already deceased or their father left them. At times, it’s easy to find a proxy for the father.

Skylar is one of those girls who looked forward to the daddy-daughter dance.

She was just six years old when she had this dance in school, and she was very eager to go and excited that she was going with her dad.

Unfortunately, her dad didn’t show up, so she went with her grandfather instead.

The next year was the same story.

Her mother, Trelysia Hamerter, said that since Skylar didn’t want that to happen again, she gave her mother a heads-up so she could tell her father that she wanted him to go with her to the dance.

She didn’t want to go with her grandpa anymore because she wanted the school to know she has a father.

Trelysia informed Skylar’s father, but he was unresponsive days before the dance.

Not wanting to break her daughter’s heart the second time, she told her that her father was not answering the calls and texts anymore and he might not go with her to the dance.

This must have been heartbreaking to tell your daughter this news.

However, Skylar’s older brother overheard this conversation.

Christian approached his mother and told her about his plan. What he told his mother brought Trelysia to tears.

She wrote in a Facebook post:

“Her big brother stepped in and said he’d take her because he wanted his sister to know that she deserves a man keeping his word and making her feel special. Y’all, I literally cried….”

Yes, we are crying, too.

Both Skylar and Christian were dressed to the nines for the dance. You can see that beautiful smile on Skylar’s face on how happy she is with how things turned out.

Christian did make her feel special on that day!

Trelysia also added:

“Just know that I’m raising someone a GREAT HUSBAND one day.”

And we couldn’t agree more.

Skylar is so lucky to have such a wonderful big brother that will always look out for her. Bravo, Christian – you rock!
