Babies and animals are always cute together. It’s just so sweet to see these small creatures spending time together, speaking in a language only they understand.

Puppies and babies are probably the most common pairing, but there are many other sweet baby and animal combos. This includes babies and birds!

Animals have different reactions to human babies. While most animals have some sort of motherly instinct, dogs are some of the most well-known creatures to do so. They know a human baby when they see one and treat it differently than they do other humans. They know to be gentle, for example.

Outside of dogs and cats, however, humans don’t normally let other animals near the little ones.

This cockatoo is ready to meet her baby sister.

Cockatoos are large birds that are a part of the parrot family. Something they are known for is their affection and their mischievous tendencies.

Buttons the cockatoo has never met a baby before and is ready to say hi.

On their first encounter, Buttons seems to get a bit excited. Letting out a “SQWAAAWK,” she obviously needs a moment to collect herself. You can’t be making that kind of noise around a sleeping baby!

On round two, Buttons is much calmer. His little yellow “ruffle” on his head is all flat, making him look much calmer. Hopefully, he learned his lesson and won’t be squawking all the time.

As he gets closer to the baby, Buttons has a hilarious look on his face as he watches the squirming pink thing.

Staring at the rocking baby, Buttons says, “Hi, bubba!”

Parrots can mimic most sounds they hear, especially human words.

When Buttons’ owner starts asking questions, he responds! She asks Buttons, “What do you say to your baby sister?” and he responds with, “Hi, bubba!” It is a super cute interaction.

Meowing like a cat, Buttons might think that the new baby is a kitten! Who knows what is going on in Button’s bird brain, but when he looks at the baby, he starts meowing! Maybe he thinks the little squirmy thing is a big kitten.

Buttons nods excitedly when asked if they should keep the newborn baby. I think his mind is made up!

He genuinely seems curious about the little girl in the cradle.

Cockatoos are such curious creatures that Buttons is probably whirring with excitement about the new baby.

The next few months are sure to be an adventure for Buttons and mom! At least Ananya (the baby) will have a great “big brother” to make her laugh as she gets older.

Who knows who will get the baby to say her first words!

It’s clear Buttons and Ananya love each other a lot and have lots of fun. It’s so sweet to watch them interacting and having a good time together.
