The couple had no idea what they were in for.

There’s still goodness in this world and this story is proof.

Caren and Dustin Moore were already in a wonderful mood when they boarded a Southwest Airlines flight to Colorado. The couple were headed home to Buena Park, California with their newly adopted infant daughter cradled in their arms. Dustin and Caren had adopted the child after 9 years of struggle to have a baby. They were finally going to be able to raise a child all their own. There couldn’t have been anything to make the day better.

But things weren’t all peaches and cream for the couple

Dustin explained on his Twitter feed that the week had been difficult for them. But their humility kept them from publicly airing their grievances or even ranting that things were going wrong. They were using their social media as a driving force for good and to help them cope with life’s challenges.

But they didn’t think anything could happen on the trip that would make a great story for their feed.

…But they were wrong.

When flight attendants caught wind of their story, they came together with a wonderful idea

It began when the couple was boarding the plane. Dustin was apologizing to other passengers for him and his wife. They had four carry on bags and a new baby cradled in Caren’s arms. After the couple got settled in, the flight took off and everything was good…for about an hour.

You can guess what happened next — especially if you’ve ever been on a plane with a crying baby

The couple weren’t even halfway home when Caren and Dustin’s 8-day-old daughter woke up from her nap in a fussy mood. Caren quickly realized that that meant it was time for a diaper change. But their plane was a very tight fit, which would make changing diapers tough at best.

But flight attendants came to the rescue when…

Dustin asked Jenny, one of the flight attendants for help. She immediately offered the couple space in the rear of the plane so they could change the girl’s diapers in privacy. This kind offer was welcome especially when the couple met up with Jenny afterwards. He recounts the story by saying:

“After a change, Jenny and another passenger complimented my beautiful daughter and politely asked what had prompted a flight with such a young infant. I gave them the shortened adoption story, to which they hastily offered congratulations, and shared a few more kind remarks.”

Another flight attendant heard Dustin’s story and couldn’t help but to…

Bobby, another flight attendant had something on his mind. He needed to know more so he walked over to Caren and Dustin. He took one look at the cute baby and asked some personal questions to the couple. The couple thought it was strange, but answered the questions and thought nothing of it.

But little did Caren and Dustin know that they were now down the rabbit hole

In case you didn’t know, Southwest Airlines has a reputation for being goofy with the plane’s intercoms. They do great work, but they enjoy having fun while doing that. So they got on the intercoms with a special message for everyone to hear. Dustin told interviewers that:

“The attendant Bobby came on and announced a special guest on the flight. Our daughter. ‘She’s just been adopted by her parents Caren and Dustin, and is making her way home.’ The entire cabin erupted in cheers and applause.”

The crew then handed out pens and napkins and asked the passengers to write helpful advice for the new parents.

The messages were a mix of common sense recommendations and cheeky little jokes but one message…

As the couple read the notes they were given, they found that most of them were little joking teases or the common sense advice that all parents are given.

These include things like “Drink more wine” or “Rub each other’s feet” and “Enjoy every minute, because they will go faster than you think”.

But one message caught the couple as a surprise and read:

“I was adopted 64 years ago. Thank you for giving this child a loving family to be part of. Us adopted kids need a little extra love. Congratulations.”

When Insider contacted Dustin about the flight, he had this to say:

“That was the one that stood out the most to me. It was pretty significant for my wife as well. My wife had a lot more reservation about adoption and whether or not our daughter would be treated differently. That [letter] was a point of vision for my wife to see further down the road.”

The other napkin notes included lots of practical tips, like “Rub each other’s feet, and rub the baby’s feet.” and “Enjoy every minute. It goes by sooo fast!”

But the story doesn’t stop there because…

Dustin and Caren learned that Bobby and Jenny, the flight attendants who started the whole celebration, had a special connection. Apparently they were married and someone had done something similar for their during their honeymoon flight. Dustin and Caren caught up with Jenny who revealed that she and her husband thought the baby shower in the sky was the perfect way to pay forward the kind act they received.

Dustin couldn’t wait to give a shout out on his Twitter

Once Dustin and Caren returned home, Dustin concluded the story by saying:

“The outpouring of love from that flight, brought on by the actions of two thoughtfully observant flight attendants… it exceeds my ability to describe what it meant to us. How much those wings and written notes uplifted two new parents determined to love their new daughter.”
