No one can ever fully comprehend a parent’s love other than themselves.

Parents, if one is lucky, will be the first people who will teach you what selflessness and unconditional love feel like. They are there in your hardest moments and greatest triumphs.

And while we see them do things for us like cook our meals, support us in sports, or hug us in our heartbreak, we can never truly say how far they’ll go to show us their love.

Cambria Hauck of southern Utah began bleeding after giving birth the second time.

After giving birth to her second set of twins, she began bleeding. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment but when the doctors got to her case, they were baffled.

“We ended up not wanting to play with my life,” Hauck told TODAY. The doctors can’t pinpoint where the bleeding was coming from and it could place Hauck’s life in danger.

She then underwent an emergency hysterectomy.

Hysterectomy is a major procedure where the uterus is removed. It is often reserved to treat severe health problems like cancers in the uterus, and tumors.

It was a difficult decision for the couple because this meant that she would never be able to bear a child again.

The decision was further strained because they underwent fertility treatments and still had unused embryos. Every bit of possibility of having a child was now dashed and they just had to rely on faith and take comfort in its will.

It was then when Nancy Hauck, her mother-in-law, got a calling.

As she was tending to Cambria, Nancy felt that there was another baby girl meant for the family. She then asked the couple for an offer they never expected.

She offered to carry their next baby for them. It was a strange request that was even complicated because she was almost 60 years old.

Cambria and her husband agreed to their mother’s offer.

“We knew that the only way that we could use our embryos was through having someone carry for us,” Cambria told TODAY. She also added that while it may sound like a crazy idea, it didn’t feel like that to her.

Nancy underwent several tests to make sure that she can carry the baby full term. Much to their surprise, the doctors said she was a “good candidate”.

Six days after the procedure, the family received good news.

Nancy was pregnant. The family has since posted photos of her with the baby bump, and we can say that they are pretty excited about it.

As for Nancy, she also developed a new sense of empathy.

Since she has never experienced infertility, the procedure was something she never considered.

She encountered in-vitro fertilization while studying for her master’s and back then it was such a novel procedure that few had access to. She never imagined she would be in the same situation.

The family is expecting Baby Hannah in November.

And while other people have been critical about their decision, the family chose to focus their energy on things that truly matter.

“I call her my mother-in-love, because that’s what she is,” Cambria said.
